Abstract

The article highlights the results of the school action of 1933, which shooked the Ukrainian society and raised the national opposition to the policy of the II Rech Pospolyta in the Ukrainian lands. The success of the action was mainly due to the Ukrainian nationalist underground. In its turn, the activity of the underground was to increase the number of staff by involving of School Youth in the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists with the following methods: calls for the boycott of Polish schools, distribution of OUN postcards and educational work in the pupils’ environment. Holding anti-Polish school actions was done by damaging school buildings, destroying Polish state symbols (coat of arms, flag, portraits of Joseph Pilsudskyi) with the subsequent distribution of OUN postcards. During the school action in the autumn of 1933, which was the main form of the peaceful cultural and educational resistance of Ukrainians against the educational policy of the II Rech Pospolyta, Western-Ukrainian lands were swallowed up by a wave of arrests. These arrests were primarily of a political nature and aimed at destroying patriotic elements in the Ukrainian society of Galicia and Volyn.
